Its getting near the mating season for these guys. The male was protesting me being near the enclosure and hanging out near his woman.

They had those at the National Zoo in DC when I went there two weeks ago. They look like fancy coyotes to me :). What zoo are you working at?

He kinda sounds like a Coonhound "bawling" on the trail; didn't expect these to bark like that!

Yea, I got to be real acquainted with their unique bark when I had to pick our first female up from the airport. It was 2 hours in a van with a nice loud bark and their unique odor (they really smell like skunks). And to the other question, I work at Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, CT. We have had Maned Wolves for about five years with two successful litters that were then followed by two successful infanticides, which is unfortunately common in this species. They should hopefully start breeding in December with late February or March births. Hopefully she'll be a good mom and we won't have to step in.
