Hi all,
I have a black rock scorpion (Urodacus manicatus) who I believe may be dying. They are a second instar, I have had them since October 2023.
Two weeks ago I made a mistake and disturbed the scorpion when retrieving an uneaten cricket. They were lethargic and so I picked them up. At first they were defensive and then seemed to play dead? I placed the scorpion back in their enclosure onto a small stone, they rolled off and began to twitch. I moved them back upright and left them. Initially, they seemed okay but they’ve since become almost paralysed. They haven’t moved, save for random twitching and moving their chelicerae.
I have been leaving them alone for multiple days in a quiet place. I checked on them on Sunday and there was more movement than usual but still they haven’t moved. I checked again on them today and the story is the same.
I would appreciate any advice on what I should do or an explanation for what may have occurred. While I’ve kept other invertebrates before, this is my first scorpion.
