Looking for help on making flake soil

May someone help me on making flake soil. I know for sure hard woods but other then that. What other information can anyone provide me with and ratios. I would love to make my own. But no where to start... Please help.

There are a few recipes floating around the internet, but they can be kind of hard to find. Here's one that I've used:

Although I didn't use any of the optional additives. I also used Traeger hard wood pellets instead of saw dust.

The biggest things IMO are:

• Make sure you stir it enough at first - if you get mold, you're probably not stirring it enough, you probably want to stir it 1-2x / day for the first two weeks
• If your temperatures are low (under 75 F) prepare for it to take several months
• Make sure you get a good lid or you will almost definitely get pharid flies
