I want another t. I have a rose and would like another. I want one that will be a little more active. I don't want to handle them too much (so as not to stress them out), but don't mind handling them if necessary. I will probably use a 10 gallon tank..(they are cheap)...

What would be a good one to get...I like the mexican red knee and the fire leg, but are there others that are just as "cool"???

Thanks in advance....

I would reccomend a Green bottle blue (GBB) (C. cyaneopubescens) they're gorgeous from sling to adult, a little skittish from what i've read. I don't know how "active" they are but they creat some AMAZING webbing. Other than that I would also recommend an arboreal species, either an A. avicularia (guyanan pinktoe) or a A. versicolor (Antilles pinktoe), though if you go with either of those you need to pay a bit more attention to humidity and it'd be recommended to fasion a plexiglass lid and flip that 10g over so its tall instead of long. :)

Don't be a jabbernow. Don't be a mooncalf. Don't be a luddy duddy.

You're not any of those, are you?

Get an OBT.

say what????

and I would not reccomend an OBT, granted they're one of my absolute favorite species and I love my girl to death but the combination of speed, readieness to bite, and the potent venom, I wouldn't recommend one to someone whos only owned a rosie before...

btw, along with the others I suggested the B. smithi (red-knee) and B. boehmei (Fire-leg) are both great species. Anything else form the Brachypelma genus would be good too like a B. vagans (red rump, mines a ferocious pig), B. emilia (painted leg), ans so on, are all good choices, as are others from the Grammostola genus, like G. pulcripes (Chalco golden knee). However, unlike the ones I mentioned in my first post anything in either genus (Brachypelma and Grammostola) tend to be very slow growers, so I'd reccomend getting a juvie or an adult which can be pricy. The green bottle blue and the pink toes are both fast growers. :)

Trying to talk a new keeper into getting an OBT is just bad advice.

OBT is a big step up from a rosie. Certainly not recomended for handling, and a real adreneline rush to transfer from one enclosure to the next. The venom is pretty potent and this spider is not shy in letting you know that.

The Mexican Red knee is a great choice, but may have similar characteristics to your rose hair.

I second the Green Bottle Blue choice. This spider has the colours, heavy webbing, power eating displays. Great display spider in my opinion.

I would say L. parahybana as they are always out when adults, we have 4 of these guys. Matt

Hey, have you liked any of the suggestions so far? I would advise against getting an OBT, they are super cool and one to get in the future but it would be a bit of a leap from only being used to a rosie. If you want something different arboreals would be good such as avics like others have suggested. B. Smithis are really nice but dont do a lot, mines less active than my G.rosea lol. B. albopilosum are a nice friendly species, they tend to make burrows and tunnels which would be cool to watch and they are good eaters so might be a little different from your rosie :)

I got my G. rosea 2 months ago, and I love her to death so I decided to get one more.

I debated between getting a red knee (B. smithi), a red leg (B. bohemi), or a brazillian black (G. pulchra). I couldn't decide so yesterday I went to Paul Becker and got all 3 slings. {D
I figured...there are other things in life that warrant a compromise, but the three slings were not that expensive so I refused to pick only one :D
