I'm searching for an iguanid(or rather, anything iguana in name only, like Corytophanes cristatus) that can be maintained in a home terrarium, and is suitable for captive care. I am interested in mainly smaller species; nothing that gets too big, as the green iguana does. (hence my first statement) I don't care for striking colors; anything will do, really. Also, it must be possible to breed in captivity as I am looking for captive bred stock, and may consider breeding them in the future as well. I would greatly appreciate if I can keep a pair(or more) in the same enclosure. I would prefer a species that is able to be handled and tamed, not one who will be defensive, too fast, and quick to escape. I would prefer a species who is herbivorous or omnivorous, however, I don't mind a carnivorous animal should it be all that's available.
Lastly, it must be available in the U.S. and must be at an affordable price.
Would you all say chuckwallas or desert iguanas match my description?
