Looks like a desert banded gecko to me. What is amazing to me is how much the Leopard gecko and the America's banded gecko are so similar in looks and behavior, the banded gecko only much smaller.

That would be so neat to find lizards 'lurking around'. I live in Canada where we don't have them!

I used to live in puertorico and we would find long tailed lizards, coquis(special puertorican treefrog---endangered), some stuff that look like a gilla monster(in size...) maybe a skink? Or a plated lizard? It was like 4ft long or something like that. They ran fast. They lived in mountain ranges round the plains in the mountains(which is where I resided). Now that I think of it. they reminded me of a mix of a skink and plated lizard. They had the skin of a plated lizard but were bulky like a skink and always had a tongue out like a snake. or so i recall. maybe a monitor? I don't know but it was impressive.

I've found a few salamanders and what not around here growing up, never a gecko. I'm jealous, that's pretty cool!

That would have been fun as a child to have all those critters to observe and hang out with in Puertorico, Sandeku.

Same here, Toogledoo. Salamanders are the closest we get to anything lizard-like.
