Live plants in T. seladonia enclosure?

I'm interested to hear of experiences people have had with live plants in their T. seladonia enclosure(s). What species of plant have you used, and have you struggled to keep the plant alive in the drier conditions required for the spider? I'd rather not go down the fake plant route, so it'll be either no plants at all, or a live plant that's compatible with the required set-up.

Thanks

Substrate moisture shouldn't be an issue if it's kept well aerated and you don't keep it excessively damp.

Chamaedoreas, tillandsias etc can thrive in those conditions. Chamaedoreas only need a heavy watering once in a while, in between I keep them fairly "dry" to slow down the grouth. Just a small amount of moisture around them, nothing else.

Tillandsias in the other hand are considered air plants, so watering is minimal or practically nonexistent if the setup is humid enough. The mist provided for hydrating the T should be enough to keep them healthy.

Maybe you find useful the next article from Ryan Marshal

I do not own any T seladonia, but I keep two big vivariums and experienced with different conditions and plants inside to see how they react. Imo those two are the easiest to keep alive in those conditions.

I've got a female S. calceatum that I consider somewhat expendable, because she was a freebie. If I ever experiment with live plants, she'll be the one I'll start with. Maybe a nice Pothos or Fittonia. Of course, she webs so much that she might just cover it up.

Spoke with one of the first owners in NA - he used live plants. At that point in time it seemed they were sensitive to humidity, ie it’s important.

I don’t recall species, and most people don’t use live plants from what I’ve seen in later yrs

I have used low maintenance plants like Pothos, Scindapsus or Peperomia in the past
I have mixed feelings using house plants, it looks great for a short time but since I didn't add plants everywhere in the substrate it was kind of difficult to water, like the water wouldn't necessarily stay where the roots were and since I live in Canada and it is rather dry they didn't do so great in terrariums although I keep alot of plants around my house and they're all thriving including those I mentionned

That makes a case in favor of leaving the plants in their planters and just building up the substrate around the planters.

yea but it'd be a huge hassle to repot and take a bunch of space for any burrowing spider
also terrariums are enclosed spaces and plants don't tend to do so well in those except for a few moisture dependent species you usually see in amphibian terrariums that SEEM to do well (I have no experience regarding amphibian terrariums and live plants but at my local reptile store they do seem to be doing well??? idk)
there are very nice looking fake plants out there and overall my experience with trying live plants have proven to be meh in the end, it's not like your spider will see the difference anyways

Yes, the aesthetics are more for us than the spiders and for burrowers, live plants would take up too much space. I recently picked up a few appealing faux plants at Target. They came in phony pots, but I've been pulling the plants out. I might suction cup individual stems/vines to the glass.
