Are they as shy as piranhas usually are? Do they eat in front of you??

I've got them in a 125 gal tank w/ 3 emperor filters as they can be quite messy.

I had six originally but once they matured they took out two of the smaller ones so now I'm down to four.

I do feed them the ocassional pinkie but too often it wreaks havoc on water quality. It's easier and cleaner to feed catfish filets or live minnows. Avoid goldfish because fed too often they can actually harm piranha.

They eat in front of me and ocassionally from my hand but that's just me. I've had them for six years and my wife has only seen them eat once or twice.
