A mushroom grew in my emperor scorpions cage. An actual mushroom, not like, one of those mold things. It somehow grew overnight. I removed it and flushed it down the toilet. Should I change the substrate or will it be fine?

Was it yellow? I seem to remember a lot of people getting a certain type that was yellow that commonly grows in moist ecoearth. Something like a houseplant mushroom.

I've had a lot of the yellow ones and a smaller white ones, I just let them live their life's out. They probably help break down waste also, maybe beneficial. So no problem imo, I just think what the scorpions deal with in the wild.

In the wild for sure they(scorpions) have encountered and seen some of those mushrooms. No worries with that in fact its a good additional ornaments for your tank. hehehe!

I have to dig up the pic, but there was a guy on the forum whose got a colony of emps with more mushrooms growing then emps and hes never changed the sub, and its been like that for 3+ years and no deaths from the shrooms, logic is that if 1 dies because of the shrooms the entire or most of the colony should be since they are all in it together

I have lot's of those shrooms......there seem to be spores in the humus bricks or something.....I remove at least four of those per week (I only keep tropical scorpions).....I scoop up the spores that the shrooms leave on the substrate, but I don't change it completely....

It was a kind of tall stalk with a little cap on tops. (yeah, I know it's a mushroom of course it had a cap and stalk). Now that I hear these replies I wish I hadn't flushed it down the toilet.
