Lastly a picture of a beautiful little skink. I spied him as he ran around my feet and then slid under one of my shoes. I removed my foot and snapped this picture before he melted away into the grass. These guys move like mercury on glass. One second you see them and the next second they are history.
You busted me! No rattlers yet. I'm hoping to hit some prime crotalid territory this weekend. I will be sure to post pictures if I see any.
JohnnyJohnJon,
I'm using a Sony Cybershot. It doesn't have macro so I can't get too close up. Overall not a bad camera. My brother-in-law has one with macro and it takes some great photos.
HeyJey,
They are only about an inch long. The one pictures was just the fattest one I have personally laid eyes on.
Immortal,
They are very freaky looking. I'm definitely happy with the skink pic. They usually don't hold still for too long.
And a picture of some snake food. This is an area that was burned up during the San Diego fires. The grasses are growing back nicely and there seems to be plenty of animals in the area. During my quick hike I found this mouse (I don't know what type) and a deer mouse. There were also many many Sceloporus and Uta lizards. I also saw a few skinks and a couple of alligator lizards. At the top of this photo there is a small sceloporus.
i'd collect all those lizards and the juraselm cricket and setup a communal lizard tank and let the cricket lay eggs to feed to my t;s.. your lucky man, all we have here is chipmunks and squerils..
