Has anyone kept a Liphistius malayanus or Malaysian armored trapdoor spider before? I am quite possibly getting a CB sling in the next month and I am very excited. Not much is online about their specific care but I was thinking of keeping it in a deep enclosure with damp substrate as it's a moisture dependent species.

Any suggestions on substrate or behavior as I've never kept a trapdoor before, only fossorial tarantulas and I know they need solid ground to construct their burrows. Currently, I use topsoil mixed with coco husk and moss but I'm curious about other mixes that worked for other keepers.

(Also, photographs aren't mine, they are found on Google/flicker)

I keep my Liphistius in enclosures, were the soil never is dry and of course they enjoy very deep substrate. Don't manipulate at the trapdoor and you'll be good friend's. I use growing soil, loam and some sand. The result is a heavy, moderately fruity soil. Remember, they hate light. You will only see them while feeding...

I will definitely take that in mind when mixing their substrate, thank you ☺ Also, do they need a higher temp or is room temp fine like ts? Also, is that your vid? Very cool
