I got three gorgeous tarantulas yesterday but my birdeater absolutely takes me away.

I believe Parahybanas can grow to eleven inches!!

That is large!, exciting I bet, will you have to move it to a larger enclosure or will it be put into the it's adult-sized enclosure?

We have her in a ten gallon enclosure. If she grows to be even bigger, we will move her to a larger enclosure. )

I presume it's a new world tarantula, just to check this means it does not flick hairs when agitated?

She is an Old World, a Salmon Pink Birdeater. Birdeaters do flick hairs too, she has flicked hairs at me before. Luckily, I had closed her enclosure quick before it hit my skin, haha.

My mistake, Parahybanas seem to be New Worlds.

Interesting I did not realise some new worlds could flick,What country does this species hail from? I read elsewhere here that plants within their enclosure get in the way do you think this is the case? Paticularly with a larger type such as this ?

Only new world species (those from the Americas) have urticating setae (but not all NW have them). Old world species (from Africa, Asia, Australia, etc.) do not have UrS. This is generally accepted as one reason why OW T's are more prone to throw up threat poses and bite when defending themselves than NW species are..
