just caught this guy on my porch less than an hour ago while i was tending to the BBQ


Pseudacris regilla (Hyla regilla)
Pacific Chorus Frog (Pacific Tree Frog)

have him in a KritterKeeper right now
ate a cricket
seems to be doing OK

Another bit of info that might be interesting is that it is illegal to keep these animals as pets without a license - and from what one of my readers tells me, it's nearly impossible to get a license to do so. It can carry a pretty hefty fine. "I spent many hours trying to find someone in the state governemnt who could tell me how to get a license. Finally talked to someone at Fish and Wildlife who told me that no such license existed unless I was a university. Then he started to threaten me." Yikes! So, enjoy these guys in the wild, but don't bring them home!

that's too bad, it looks like a nice frog. i wonder why you need a licence.

Never did figure that out. I did see a lot of population tracking information online, and I know they're often affected by even the smallest amount of pollution. They might be a protected species, making WC a big no-no. I'll probably search around on the subject a bit more today while at work since i'll have time to kill.
