Lepidoptera phobia?

my gf is terrified of moths (or other things that flutter in the night but, mainly moths) and her sister is petrified by moths and butterflies. the sis can't even look at a pic of one without freaking out.
it's kind of weird isn't it?
i don't know how you can help though... that's what a phobia is- an irrational fear. my gf know it's goofy but she can't help it. she even hit a parked car because there was a moth in her car while she was driving!

My girlfriend has an embedded phobia of moths too...it's unbelievable. She actually has to go get professional help to get over it. She has severe panic attacks everytime she sees a moth....crazy.

haha...this remindsme of a maury show once....they had CRAZY phobias....like a woman who was deathly affraid and sickened by yellow mustard, anoth guy was terrified of pickels and some guys was crazy scared of short sleeve shirts..

Lol theres a vid on youtube I forget which talk show but a woman was deftly afraid of cotton balls, and they pretty much tortured her with cottonballs and laughed, mighta been Maury.

You're not alone...
I've been dealing with the same problem for years. I always thought it was very odd also. About 12 years ago, I collected & kept almost as many T's & Scorps as a Dealer - and my Wife (who was my girlfriend at that time) didn't have a problem with any of them. I had everything, plus about a half dozen true spiders, I bred Jumping spiders & Scorps, fruit fly cultures in the fridge, foodplants in the freezer, etc. I had various snakes/reptiles, etc. BUT - Only when I started raising Leps did I run into problems - She hated caterpillars worse than anything! I was ordering lepidoptera from all over the world, I even had a large flight cage, etc.
The thing that freaked her out the most, were the caterpillars feeding in their terrariums/enclosures, etc. So I could not figure it out either. Until this day, I can't keep any Leps... I would love to raise all kinds of Catocala (Underwing moths)
But, at least she doesn't mind me keeping Adult beetles, so it's all about compromise. And that's why I'm always on these boards asking if anyone has adult beetles to sell me
