With all these bills being proposed for 2010, could they come after people with t's? Somehow I don't see exotic t's being a threat to our ecosystem if they escaped. They wouldn't survive anywhere except Florida considering how cold it gets in some places. Also, there would be predators like birds.

Burmese pythons are only a threat to the Everglades too. Don't believe the BS saying that pythons can take over the majority of the US, because it's totally incorrect and has been renounced by real scientists. Is that stopping them from trying to ban pythons? Nope.

Really, the thing keeping the invert hobby safe at the moment is 1) the lack of publicized deaths and 2) it's just not as popular as the reptile hobby. It is my opinion that if and when the invert exotic pets trade gets to be as popular as reptiles are today, we will be facing the same types of legislation.

I agree with those real scientists. It gets too cold for these snakes to establish in the majority of the United States.

There are not any deaths by a T reported, except a possible story of a young girl in an Asian country possibly dying from a native T.

People are going to try to ban what they don't understand, and are horribly misguided about... so yes, if Ts become so popular as snakes there will be problems with legislation and people trying to ban them.

I'm mostly worried about deaths due to scorpion stings. Repercussions from that would definitely affect the T hobby as well.

Re: Communes....

There was a self-sufficient group of hippie/builders in New Mexico......created there own city basically........

Legislation was passed to remove them from land they owned. Because of taxes and building codes/permits, etc. They fought the law, But, the law won.
{Showtime Special}
The day Americans Cannot keep tarantulas as "pets".........I take up Arms ;)
Eight of them :D - Jason

P.S. Getting a T-shipping rule passed, would be a great victory for the Hobby.
Please - Write and call your congressman or woman, if you support.
