Try catching a common snapping turtle, they usually have some attached to the underside.
Put the turtle in a barrel of chlorinated water so the entire shell is covered. After a couple hours, the leeches will be lined up on the edge of the barrel just above the water line. I once found a small snapping turtle (about 4 inch shell) with over 100 leeches attached to its underside.
Other options- many fishing bait stores sell freshwater leeches as bait.
The only time Ive seen wild leeches not attached to turtles was at the edge of a very polluted creek in the city under rocks near the waters edge.
I used to "catch" them all the time back when I used to go on canoe trips. Just about every time I had to wade through an area with a lot of brush I’d get a few on my feet or legs. It is not uncommon to see them in the water in marshy areas around here, and as mentioned above bait stores quite often sell them. Good luck.
