i was wondering if anyone here has ever kept leeches before. my little brother found one and we have been feeding it minnows out of our creek. its amazing to watch swim around and feed. its only about .5" but stretches and shrinks. neat little guy....or girl...theyre hermaphroditic.....

I kept leeches for a bit when i was younger. the Draconis ones. black with green stripes. Most often used medicinally. they are escape artists extrodinaire so make sure you have a firm fitting top on what ever you have it in

Any ideas where they can be bought online? the only ones I've seen for sale have been mega expensive, something to do with them being sterile (medically speaking not unable to breed!)

i found a place recently that sold "fishing" leeches. they werent as expensive as the medicinal ones. cant remember the link tho. google it

Try a biological supply company such as Carolina, or even your local fishing shop. I know the one in my neighborhood gets them seasonally.

He's from the UK and probably won't be able to get anything from Carolina Biological, at least not without astronomical shipping charges.
