Unfortunately, I do not have pics ATM but I will try to get some.

I got an interesting call today after bringing my station wagon into the shop for concerning sounds. The mechanic apparently found a whole boatload, or should I say carload, of western black widows all webbed up in my chassis. Fair enough I guess. I only wish they had called me before having them removed by another party, I'd have done it for free. I'll ask and see if the mechanic got pics.

My buddy is already calling it the spidermobile 🤣

All good on that front, they called in the spider enthusiast from the exotic pet store down the street. I just wish I could have moved them to the PP near my home and kept a couple for myself.

I had a little surprise when changing a headlight in our Nissan van. A Hesperus crawling on the back of my hand. Inside of the housing was webbed up. Ballooning, serious random number generator -> any port in the storm.

Guessing the Boat must have been anchored for a while, to allow the Stowaways this opportunity. lol

I hadn't driven it in for about a week or two because it makes terrifying sounds during lefthand turns and the steering wheel shakes when it hits 50kmh.

No way in H**l was I driving it. Last time my car shook like that, I was on the highway right outside Sparwood, and my wheel came right off my car. Immediately started swerving, thankfully there was a pull in and I had just enough control to get off the road and into the pull in safely. The car behind me stopped to help, they were more shook than the passengers and I. 3hrs of waiting, tow truck ride to a mechanic in Fernie, because the mechanic in Sparwood was full up. Motel for the night and finally about 4hrs of repairs on my car. What was originally supposed to be a 5hr drive turned into an overnight trip. I love my car, Volvo XC-series wagon, it is mostly dependable but it loves to break down from time to time.

Had my pick-up front left explode once. So Cal freeway, crowded, high speed. The brain takes over handing up a huge brilliant red flashing neon sign You Are Not In Control Of This Vehicle. Thanks brain but the steering wheel whipped out of my hands was a clue. I slammed into the side of the tractor of a big rig immediately beside me.
Fortunately the big rig driver knew exactly what was going on - had to have heard that king hell explosion. He very slowly moved sideways pushing me over towards the side of the road. Finally in the emergency parking lane and stopped he pulled in front and parked as well. He got out, inspected the side of his truck then came back to me standing there shaking and grinned. "I bet that woke you up! You got a spare?"
That tire was completely gone. Just the bare metal rim. Weird.

This happens a lot in Canada. But because of winter tire change to summer tire. People are in a rush and do it badly. When the deadline to switch to summer tire expires, so many cars on the side of the road because of wheels gone wrong.

i don’t know how i’d feel about latrodectus in my car. I found a dead bird in it once. That was a great gift.

That makes a lot of sense, just wish it wasn't so.

Dead bird in car!?!?!? I might just cry, that's another dinosaur lost to the ages 😭

That is still rough, that is what I call a nasty surprise.

I have also heard of squirrels and other rodents going into cars to chew the wiring. That's more a nuisance than a bummer though.

Animals and cats are safe around my car. I always check before driving. And i check my oils frequently.

if there was a bird in there, it got caught while driving. At that point, there was nothing i could do. If no one is behind me, i always slow down for wildlife. If someone is behind, but far away, i do my best to signal i am slowing down.

I see deer get hit a fair bit. Those who are too close to slow down and know what's up, will speed up. This unfortunately does increase mortality rate of the animal hit but it reduces the chance of a passenger or driver being struck by the animal and passing as well.

I couldn't imagine that you intentionally killed a bird with your car or that an animal would drag it there. I just love birds so much. Turkey season in BC is a different story, people intentionally crashing into the birds left and right for a free dinner 🤣. Poor birds.

It does happen, when it is noticed an can be avoided, great! Sometimes things don't pan out. I have never hit an animal, probably cause I turn my music up on the highway or luck. I have been in a vehicle which struck a deer, years ago. I was sure the buck was a goner as it limped away....I saw that very same deer in my yard a few weeks later. Scar on his side and a slight limp, I have seen him multiple times since.
