I've not yet visited Oregon, but can't imagine that it doesn't have some cool spiders. ?

BTW, "D.U.", the shredded paper environment is an interesting touch.

Thanks guys! i will tell you when they all hatch :D i got the idea of using paper from the way i pack scorpions and spiders in the post to make them most comfortable, so i thought i could use it for her enviroment :)

I believe shipping anything live from Australia is illegal, is it not? Still I'd absolutely love to have some of these...Congrats, Down.

shipping issue

i also would love to have some of these spiders. i have all native us species, but would love to diversify.

i understand, but maybe not correctly, that shipping these critters is restricted, probably by both the US and Australia. i have been told that it may be okay to ship an egg sac however. anyone else know?

how far along are the egg sacs, and do you know the approximate temperature? assuming that they are similar to US species, the time period for the eggs to gestate (?) varies a great deal with temperature. also, having the temperature in the correct range will affect how many of the eggs mature.

If you are willing to ship an egg sac, and we figure out the restrictions, i would love to have one. i could reciprocate with an egg sac of one of the US species, L geometricus or L hesperus right now. i have an egg sac from both of these. i think they still have a couple of weeks before they begin to hatch out. i could cool them down a little to slow then down too.

sincerely

I suppose that it depends on the purpose of the restriction (native species protection, potential risk to shipping agents, trade protection restrictions), but in any of these cases, I can't see what difference this would make, other than perhaps being a legal loophole.

In any event, I was wondering about Europe as well. (Not that I have any plans -- we have more than enough interesting spiders here).
