At work we have a bunch of Latrodectus geometricus and Latrodectus mactans. Today I managed to snatch two egg sacs from a Latrodectus geometricus before they hatched, unfortunately I couldn't get a hold of the mother as well.

I was thinking of letting them hatch, letting the young cannibalize down and keeping a couple of the survivors. I'd much rather have them confined and contained then having all the slings running around work and creating more :p

Does anyone have a clue generally how long the sacs take to hatch?

latrodectus egg cases

geometricus often take about a month especially in optimial conditions.female spiders often lay them in a series of up to ten.they are cannabalistic but not as bad as that latrodectus from southeast asia, which began consumming fellow spiders after being seperated briefly after hatching in a small bunch.they will accept pinhesd crickets and are easy to rear.keep together to minnimize numbers to more managable ones.Cheers, Tom
