so i put in a fem. lateralis with my c. gracilis... who seems a little clueless, and unfamiliar with roaches as i was feeding him crickets before.. anyways, i saw her laying an egg a few days ago, and since i had just removed her from the colony, sure, why not? but 5 minutes ago, i saw her laying another!!! so the question, do lateralis store sperm? or is she laying a dud egg? (or are they parthenogenic or something?!?)

thanks! :D

yes

yes they do but less hatch since there is less fertility
i dont recomend keeping roaches in with animals since it is very stressful
also i have recorded the aggressiveness of blatta lateralis if there is no water or food sources
the experiment had 35 adult lateralis in a kritter keeper
they ended up eating about 10 mealworms and they did fight over them
it only took 2 hours and there was no sign of the mealies

thanx froggy

lolll... its cool that you've gone to the trouble to perform such obscure experiments! ;)

anyways, the idea was that the scorp would EAT the roach, not coexist... so i wonder if i should now search for the eggs and remove them? :?

thanks!
