Received a female salmon pink and just want to make sure I'm good with the temps in enclosure. I haven't been in the hobby for a little while. The set up is heat mat (my house gets too cold in winter and is best affordable option to me) and thermostat to make sure it doesn't go mental. I have set it at 25 degrees Celsius and the heat mat is situated at the back of the enclosure as I know they burrow an will only burrow closer to heat source if she was to try and cool down. She has some moss for the humidity and it's sitting at around 80% and a downwards hide. Anything else to recommend? I just want a thriving female:) thanks for looking at my first post!

Probably the easiest species to care for although I had a mystery loss in 2020 and 2022 . Just search function 🔍 for care ..
They and no t needs 80% humidity.
What’s your inside house temperature Fahrenheit ?

Right okay thank you for that, I read it should be between 75% and 85%? The room is about 59 Fahrenheit. Old house, begrudge having my heating on all the time.

Congratulations on choosing such a great species! You will have a huge spider in no time.

Now, i personally do not give my Lasiodora parahybana any additional heat and temperatures have dipped to 18°C in past winters, currently i heat a bit more up to 22°C, but they can deal with 18°C just fine.

What are your room temperatures, if its above 20°C i'd ditch any heating, there is no need. They may slow down a bit if its colder.

Humidity is another non-factor.
They are very hardy spiders and will tolerate almost anything, i just make sure there is some moisture in the soil, never 100% moist, but anything from a quarter to 3/4ths dry/moist ether way is fine.

You will only harm it if you try to chase specific humidity numbers. Consider this, you'd want a kind of dry forest habitat, there is some moisture in the soil at all times, but never wet, nor bone dry.

Ditch the hygrometer, just water 3/4, let things dry to about 1/4, and then water again! It's that easy, like a houseplant.

enjoy :)

Thank you, that's kinda put my worries to rest abit. She has burrowed quite deep over night and now not visible. Must have been working through the night. Okay I'll try not to stress over the hygrometer now. Our house can just get really cold and I'm constantly in my house robe and fluffy slippers 😂

So I checked the back of the enclosure where the heat is, she has burrowed all the way to the back under the hide an is huddled next to the heat mat. Is this normal? I am concerned she will just dehydrate and not come out?

So fluffy (yes called her fluffy) was in and out the hide yesterday an thought maybe she might want a snack. She took that bad boy straight away :) chuffed she's fed. An my white knee fed too.
