So i bought a batch of crickets yesterday ( black variety, is that field cricket in english?) when i took out the bottle cap to add some cricket gel it was wriggling with these little white larvae/worms not sure what to call them really. They are very small, i would say one to two millimeter tops. At first i thought these to be cricket larvae. After some research however it seams that crickets hatch eggs and it doesnt seem to have a larvae phase (egg to pinhead is what i find on the net) is this some kind of parasite or anything else i should be worried about? I allready fed my Gbb one cricket from this batch as this was before i noticed the wormlike things... I'm a bit worried now as i may have unwillingly let something in her enclosure that could possibly do harmd. I can't see any in her enclosure though but that doesn't mean they are not there. Anyone here have any answers or clues as to what these are?

Thanks.

The best thing you can do in a situation such as this to enable others to help you is to post a picture of these worms, or whatever they may be.

I can't get a very clear picture. I hade a more or less decent one on my phone camera but i can't upload it here. I think i may have the mistery solved though, after watching them closely and doing more resarch, i believe them to be fruit fly larvea.

Note the pictures on this website. Thats exactly what they look like. To support my theory: ever since bringing those crickets in to the house yesterday, i've seen a rise in the number of fruit flies in the house. I know my other crickets attract them sometimes but after every thorough cleaning they dissapear again, plus its getting quite cold here and ussualy come november all fruit flies seem to dissapear due to the cold weather. My crickets are kept in the warmes room of the house, hence the attraction of these little pests. I will rid myself of this batch of crickets just to stay on the safe side and i'll give my other two cricket homes a thorough washing down and hope these pests do no return!
