Not a record by any stretch of the imagination, but still a healthy size for a yellow rat:

Holy crap, that's a big Yellow Rat! I don't know about a record, but it's the biggest one I'VE ever seen, in pictures or otherwise! I've had a couple of Black Rats which came pretty close, but I'm not sure even they are that big! The only Elaphe I've had which is the size of this bad boy is my male Taiwan Beauty Snake.

Well, the only record I can find online is over 7', so this guy has a shot. I'm sure there are larger ones out there -- the record for E.o.obsoleta is over 8'.

Cheers,
Dave

Pretty sweet. 7 foot isn't too uncommon with these guys though, I'm sure there are larger that no one has bothered to actually measure and get recorded.

A friend of mine has one thats nearly 7 foot.

You've got it -- dorsal, ventral and head. The head shot really shows the reason he is called quasimodo. I don't know if the deformity is a result of an injury, genetic issue (I'm skeptical on this one), or the leftovers from malnutrition, abcess, infection etc. (I'm partial to this gues) but whatever it was, it is no longer an issue. He obviously was nose rubbing at some point, too, though I doubt that led to the entire problem. I'm guessing by the nature of your question that you have some insight into possible hybridization? Or am I reaching because that is the question which I most want answered? ;)

Cheers,
Dave
