Greetings community,

For those who have knowledge of L. Violaceopes, do they exhibit any sexual dimorphism in terms of coloration before maturing? If so, at what age/diameter? Just curious if juveniles/sub-adults males and females look any different. Thank you for any insight you can offer.

Cheers.

Yes, they do. I have three 2.5 inchers. The two females are starting to become purple and the male is a poop green already.

Thanks, thats interesting! I couldn't find any definitive pics of young L. Violaceopes exhibiting this dimorphism. I have two, both around the 1.5 inch - 2 inch mark and both still exhibit their sling coloration. I wouldn't have expected anything different, but good to know that they will start to show their true colors before the penultimate molt.

Has anyone else seen this consistently around the 2.5 inch mark? Thanks.

Technically speaking, is that an officially recognized color?

My immature male violaceopes fade and females darken, while Chad Campbell said his don't. The species is found on different islands, and there may be some color differences due to that. I've seen pics where some adult females look more blue, others look more purple, but that may be the lighting.

Lolol poop green isn't in my crayon box. Can't wait to see this color
You need the adult crayons box

(real thing look into them called mature crayons and adult crayons in local shops here... which include the colors: ex's heart black, menstrol cycle red, bong water brown, [baby] poop green, and court-ordered urin sample yellow etc)

Lolol. Think the yellowgreen was like "semi dried booger" and beige/cream (dont remember wich) was "infected puss" pretty disturbing XD but humorous lol
Oh my gosh this just officially grossed me out... now everytime I see a male L. violaceopes I'll think of baby poo..

And every time I smell or see baby poo, I'll think of an LV.....unfortunately, y'all ruined the species for me for good.:(
Ultimately I'd like to use Olive Green as the politically correct term. I want to breed this species and dont look forward to an army of eight legged poops running around my house

I'm probably the only person to have been bitten by a T and not only survived, but developed traits as well. I currently have a webbed hammock i sleep on, credit to my MF L. Viola'.. I hope that answers your free range comment.. Anyway odd thing is I am looking for a MM L. Viola'
