Anyone heard of this? I just found a vial of it that I used when I used to keep birds. It's supposed to clot and stop bleeding. Could I possibly use it on my tarantulas if something goes wrong or should I pass on it?
ingredients:
ferric subsulfate
aluminum chloride
diatomite
bentonite
copper sulfate
ammonium chloride
benzocane

it would be a real shame to waste this stuff.

Is it designed for people? Keep in mind that Ts dont have blood like us, they have hemolymph. I'm no doctor but I would be concerned using that on a T not knowing how the various chemicals might affect the wound

i've heard the copper sulfate in styptic powder can be dangerous to inverts. i'm not sure how true that is, but rather than risking it, i just stick with corn starch.

Agreed, despite the fact it is designed for animals they are all warm-blooded mammals, Ts are not warm-blooded nor mammals so I wouldn't use this stuff

Copper in general is a no no for inverts of all walks of life. My bf keeps saltwater fish and he has to make sure the copper levels stay low as to not kill our shrimp and crabs.

Got it. Just gonna trash it now or save it in case an animal I have (like the dog) gets hurt. Glad I asked.
