My son captured a female K hibernalis, we're still debating whether to keep her. She ate a huge cricket, which surprised me as she is only a little over an inch long. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone has first hand knowledge as to the lifespan of these spiders? Also, what I've read lists their adult size from 1-2 inches... should I expect her to keep growing?? Thanks in advance for any insights :)

Have you ever kept black widows?
Simmiliar max legspan, And longitivity suspect an adult fem to survive up to 3 years] if your lucky. at least 1 year :) What morph is it brown or black? I'ven oted the blacks to be much more aggressive and attribute their looks and attitude to the black widow getting such a bad wrap...

PS:dont you just love that velvet hair and beady eye fixture??

She's black, and yes, the pretty velvet was a deciding factor :p She's made herself quite at home in a small kritter keeper... incredibly ravenous appetite too! I've refrained from handling her... it just seems like a poor idea somehow (maybe that widow resemblance <g>)
