Well, I am planning on getting a 2nd kitty, ANd im afraid my 4 yr old cat may not like it. We found the 4 yr old as a stray he was about 2 weeks old. He is kind of a runt, and he likes to bite and scratch and hes just crazy we watch him fight the carpet some times. He wins most of the time. But i don't want it to be he mistreats the kitty or the other way around? How do you introduce a new cat to another one?

Put the new cat in a room where they can sniff at eachother under the door. Keep them that way for a few days or so. Slowly introduce them. Hold the old one and let the new one wander about. DONT force them on each other!!!
I had a cat for about 3 yrs then got anotherone. They got along GREAT!! I tried another one and it got along with the second kitty but the first kitty got depressed !! He hid under the bed for about 4 months, got all nappy and greasy. I finally found a home for the 3rd kitty and the first one snapped out of his depression and was fine.
So it all depends on if your cats can get along. Different sexes tend to get along better than same sexes. (Always exceptions, I have 2 females that get along fine)

They may do a bit of hissing and growling and get along fine in a day or so... they may hate eachother forever!! who knows. I do know that your supposed to give the Old cat LOTS of attention during the transition so it doesnt feel displaced. It will accept the new cat better if it feels secure in its ranking in the home...lol

K Ill be quiet now.
