Does anyone know why my roommate's kitten purrs non stop? And how come I'm the only it's always trying to play with even though I like it the least? I also noticed that it finally learned how to keep it's nail retracted when playing which is good cause they hurt.

Either it's a really happy kitten or - according to some sources I've read - cats may also purr if sick/hurt (cats are good at hiding things until it's too late, so if it really IS nonstop you may ask a vet about it).

This is because it's a cat. :D

Yeah, don't blame the kitten, they're not born knowing this stuff, especially if taken from the litter too young. They normally learn not to play rough from rolling around with their siblings. If the kitten does get carried away with you guys again, DO NOT YELL AT OR PUNISH IT. Just make noise like it really really hurts, and get up and stop playing for a while. Kitten will figure it out. :)

Cats are awesome that way. If you show no interest, you are now the best friend. They just cant handle if you don't like them :p

This of course. My cat purrs nonstop as well though it is correct to say purring can indicate bad things as well. As long as you don't see any extreme behavioral shifts or signs of illness, the kitty is fine.

Kittens like to play with people who aren't in their face TRYING to play with them. Cats are aloof critters. If you ignore it, you have just made a friend for life. Sorry.
