Since there are a lot of people on this board who keep the buggers for pets and feeders. I'm curious.

How long have you kept them, months, years, decades?

How many species do you keep?

What kind of quantity do you keep, hundreds, thousands, zillions?

Where do you keep their containers, in the house, garage, outside, etc?

I got my first roaches last fall and now have six species. They are as addictive as tarantulas for sure. I have a huge colony of discoids that numbers in the thousands I am sure and the rest are just really getting going. I keep mine in the same room as my spiders and reptiles with no problem except the time I forgot to secure the lid on the Gyna lurida cage and spent a few hours collecting them from the ceiling through out the house. Luckily I only had a dozen or so at the time.

Aside from the strong recommendation to visit www.roachforum.com my answers are:

1. Years/decade+
2. Dozens of dozens, but have paired down a bit to just less than 100.
3. dozens to several hundred depending on species.
4. A room in my house.
