he registered today but apparently didnt get confirmed before he left work and wont be able to post until he gets back on Monday.....so ill post it for him to give this a two day start....

he is raising Gastrotheca, Anotheca and Ecnomiohyla frogs, they are eating alot of crickets which are small compared to the frogs but refusing anything else such as various roach species....im told katydids are a close approximation to what they eat in the wild and are larger than the typical feeder crickets......

anyone in the states raising grasshoppers or locusts like they do in Europe for feeders aswell?

I dont know if you will find many private breeders for anything other than crix or roaches....but there are a lot of studies being done about locust swarming, and you may be able to find some of thees at universities and labs, etc....if you have the right connections.

Just food for thought.

I don't think you have much luck with Katydids or grasshoppers.

Have you guys considered trying earthworms or some other sort of live bait that you could probably find at an outdoors store or somewhere that sells fishing supplies?

Doubt these frogs will take worms and I bet they've thought of that already. ;)

LMK if you have luck with this...particularly if you fidn someone raising katydids.

You can order grasshoppers by the 100-1,000's out of lab animal supply catalogs. There are different sizes available also.
