i see these alot in my yard and i was thinking about raising them as feeders plus they are awesome looking...kinda like the generic for of phasmids :D does any know much about raising them in captivity?

none have ever given me a bad smell attack

but my ts love katydids!

they'll eat just about anything
but ive never really smelt them b4
u should check that out

Im sure they just eat fruits and vegetables like alot of insects found in a yard.. I have alot of them around here also. I like the sounds they make when you threatin them {D

The sounds that they make are mating calls. And I agree - it is a cool sound - sounds almost unnatural.
I wouldn't assume that they eat just any kinds of fruits or vegetables. I would imagine that they feed on specific tree leaves or plants.
Sorry I can't help - one day I will make them a breeding project and collect as much info on them as I can, but for now I am too busy breeding T's, mantids, milli's, roaches, beetles, and scorpions.

My friend has kept several different kinds in the past (no idea which species :() and he's always fed them bramble and they've all seemed to do great.
