So what's happening in my garage? We have a tunnel web that seems to be home to a family of communal spiders. I saw one today, it's one of the big mean black wolf spiders native to my area (Minnesota). Did they eat the inhabitants and move in?
The only Tegenaria sp. you would find in Minnesota would be the small T. domestica and they definitely are quite small. Could be a funnel-web wolf spider. Though, I'm not sure if there are any in your region. http://bugguide.net/node/view/271484/bgimage
That really shoots the 'don't make webs' in the tukus. I recall another aspect of wolfies when I watched them slaughter grass spiders outside of San Diego. The funnel type web on the grass. The lycos would casually stroll onto the webs, apparently quite at home on the silk. If the resident grass spider came out to investigate, CHOMP!
