Jungle vines and tarantulas

I was wondering what people think about using jungle vines that you can find in petshops for reptiles (those kind: http://www.petco.com/product/10412/Exo-Terra-Jungle-Vine.aspx ) in arboreal enclosures.

There's almost no mention of them in the forum according to the search I just did so I was wondering if people actually use them with tarantulas since it's so easy to make great looking enclosures and give them plenty of places to climb and move around in the air.

I remembered one of my friend used them in his 2 A. avics communal some 8 years ago with no problems. But we(meaning me and him) didn't know that much about tarantulas back then and with what I now know it seems we were lucky they never killed one another and I'm not sure we would have noticed if they didn't like them.

What I'm worried about is that the texture might be a bit rough for the tarantula since it almost feel like sandpaper to the touch.

So I would like to ask your opinion about them before thinking of using them.

I have never used them, but I don't see why you couldn't give them a try.
I don't see a problem with the texture.
When your friend used them, did they web them up?
If you try them, post some pictures.

The only negative thing I've heard is that the Tarantula may get caught in them and break a leg off if startled for any reason. Other than that, I've heard of people using them. I wouldn't go overboard with them obviously. I don't see too much of an issue though as long as you take precautions.

I've used them in all of my Avic enclosures and one of my GBB enclosures. I can report no problems with them. It gives my Avics and GBB something to web on to other than cork and acrylic. Increased structure equals more elaborate webs!

I like to get large and small diameter vines and twist them together to get a more natural look.

Some makers are better than others (can't remember which) as some of the rubber coating will break during twisting. One brand does and the other brand doesn't.

I've used them in all my invert tanks and never encountered any problems, and they allow for really nice arrangements.
