I haven't seen anyone talking about theirs that much or these particular snake species so I thought I'd give an update on mine.
So I recieved my two male and female JCPs on June 16-18th. When I first got them they were very defensive nipping a lot. The female calmed down first but she still hisses from time to time but nothing serious. The male hasn't fully calmed down so here and there while taking him out he'll nip at me or strike he's gotten much better though I just ignore the nips.
The first two weeks was a pain feeding wise because they wouldn't eat anything I got so frustrated I wanted to send them back/give them away lol. But once it reached close to the middle of July they finally started eating. Now they won't stop eating I love it lol! They went from one mouse a week to three. i've never owned a snake where at the baby size they'd eat three adult mice a week. Something I also love is the fact they shed often I'll say like about every 11/2 - 2 months. since the male started on three mice before the female the female would take three he always sheds first because he basically eats more. so once he's in shed mode i know 2 more weeks later shell be in it.
I know I need to hurry up and change them over to rats so next feeding I'm going to get a mouse then feed them each one of those then directly follow it with a rat. Hopefully it will work this easily because I refuse to feed ADULT JCPs six mice EACH. if I have to do this I will, without a problem change the food item from mice to guinea pigs and they'll get one a month. I know people will say these are expensive food items and so on but of it works I'm going to do this. However, I will try every single *method of switching them from mice to rats and the ginuea pigs will only be a last resort so please don't go biting my head off because you don't agree with what I choose as a last resort.
Pictures coming soon.*
