He just came out of his web after spending a few weeks molting, and his last meal was almost a month ago now. I’ve tried moving him into brighter light and giving him more warmth but he just ignores his prey and barely even looks at it. Very worried for him. I’ve never kept spiders before and I don’t know if this is normal or not.

How long ago did he leave his hammock? My slings usually won't eat for a few days after molting. I'm not sure whether they get tired from the effort it takes to molt, or if their exoskeleton needs time to harden. If he isn't eating after four or five days, that may be concerning.

is he an adult? its very typical for them to worry you to no end with no appetite. please post a photo so we can really assess the need. this photo is from a facebook group called Salticidae information & guides.

Feeding chart 2.png

sometimes a spider is genuinely not hungry, and doesnt need to eat, but if hes getting skinny its cause for concern. you can mix some sugar and water until it dissolves and soak a qtip and give him a bit of energy and hopefully stoke his appetites. then put in some small and easy to get prey, or even put in some prekilled prey overnight and let him go at it. after that he should eat

this is the best quality pic I could get of him. I’m a bit less worried after seeing the chart, so thanks for that! :]
