Sorry for the frequency of posts from me, it seems that my collection of wc true spiders has been eventful as of recent.

Earlier I made a post about the quick decline of my widows. Well yesterday I found one of my two P. Audaxes on the floor of her enlc looking quite thin and being lethargic. Quickly I put her in an icu with water and a pre killed cricket but bu this morning she was gone.

I recently hatched out her egg, and she was eating and drinking fine postpartum. Definitely more shy, but I thought she’d have a few more months at least.

When my wc widow died yall told me it was probably old age. But having quickly lost another true spider has my worried something is wrong.

Also, I have another Audax female, right next to the one that died, and shes doing absolutely awesome. My care between the two has been identical.

Old age? Isn’t that weird considering she just laid an egg that gave me about 35 nymphs? She definitely seemed old but it’s always hard for me to imagine inverts in the wild living their full lifespans out.

Either way i’m pretty dang sad, she was a cool gal. RIP Black Yoshi. 😔😣

The life span of true spiders is pretty short. Especially once they've laid eggs. Could be coincidence or could be environmental / food related.

Yeah, I really need to get away from pet store crickets for my true spiders. I feed my Ts b. lat roaches but all my true spiders eat pet store crickets. I bought like 300 housfly spikes a while ago but none of them hatched out. 😒

Heres my other audax though, looking healthy as a horse. So how can I really blame my feeders? idk.

To rule out the feeders buy banded crickets from rainbow mealworms or another similar vendor. Banded crickets are so much better than the standard house crickets from pet stores.
