jewel cichlids

My west african Jewel Cichlids spawned and now I have a thousand or so babies swimming about under the watchful eyes of two very devoted parents. My questions are first of all, how long will they be fry, secondly should I buy them liquid fry food or will they get all the nutrients they need by grazing through the filamentous algae and picking out whatever microbes they find in it; as this seems to be what they are doing?

you can feed them crushed up fish food, that's how i reared my convict fry.
