When you say Assassin Bugs, do you mean Platymeris sp.? If so, I keep mine in about an inch of potting soil, with vertical pieces of cork bark, which is where they will spend most of their time. They eat crickets and roaches, but mine seem to really prefer roaches. Mist them maybe once a week, they get most of their moisture from prey though. I have a picture in a book that shows how to sex Platymeris, I can scan it if you want, basically it's just like roaches. You look at the last couple of ventral abdominal segments, the female's ends in one big relatively flat plate, the male has a couple of smaller ones, that are more rounded, I'll scan the picture anyway.

I had the extreme pleasure of caring for a Jerusalem Cricket once before –*amazing. Would love to get more but sadly they are in short supply in Hungary. So what I advice I can give is purely from experience and without any sort of scientific basis.

1. Potting soil and I gave mine both wood and a flat rock to burrow under, and it always preferred the rock, (or sometimes the watering dish).

2. Fresh carrot and potato bits. But by far, it's favorite meal was feeder crickets... it would attack ferociously (possibly protecting it's territory), and feed. But I kept these feedings to a minimum... maybe once a week, the rest of the time, vegetables.

3. Room temp should be fine, no heaters needed... other than that? common sense. Oh, and they've got quite the pinch... you've been warned.

Have fun!
