I'm considering buying an enclosure from Jamie's Tarantulas and I've never purchased anything tarantula related online before. In fact, I've only had this tarantula for a couple weeks and I'm completely new. Does anyone have any of her enclosures? If so, how are they? Do they do the job well?

I originally wanted to order one from Tarantulacages.com, but the online ordering isn't working right now, and another site I found wants me to fill out a form then fax it to them with my credit card information. That made me a little nervous. So... opinions? Should I go for her enclosures? And while I'm at it, are her furnishing products decent, too?

Azarath, all of my enclosure are from Jamies even though all my tarantulas are not. They are made very well. The good thing is that you could always drill more holes for ventilation if need be depending on the ventilation requirements of the species. It is a combination tank, meaning that it is for terrestrials as well as arboreals. The only thing I could gripe about is that for arboreals it's great because when you open the door it won't destroy the top web. For terrestrials the door is centered from the top so you are limited in terms of maintenance and getting into those tight spots. They are pricey but I like them. I am somewhat biased as I have only owned her enclosures so maybe someone else will chime in for another enclosure. I like them, though, and recommend them highly. Her service is top notch. I hope this helps with your decision and make sure to let me know what you chose.

I've been pleased with all of my dealings with Jamie's. However, I purchased one of the smaller arboreal enclosures with only one vent on top. I lost a couple of arboreal slings before I learned they required more cross ventilation. Now I create my own enclosures, but I still plan to buy t's from her. (In fact, I've got my eye on one right now. [emoji6])

See, I'm not the DIY type. I don't have any tools whatsoever, nor have I built anything. I'm one of those video game nerds. Not the kind you see outside building sheds. :) But I do believe my roommate has a few tools I could borrow. At the very least, I think he has a drill. So I'll probably get into the DIY projects, but for now I just wanted an enclosure that I KNOW is good enough for tarantulas. Not something I make that I sit and wonder if it'll kill my tarantula or not. That, and I need a new arboreal cage immediately. I goofed and put my pink toe in a terrestrial enclosure (because I'm a noob and forgot about whether the tarantula I was getting was an arboreal or terrestrial, being as I bought it from the pet store) and, though it's doing fine health-wise, I don't think it's too pleased with its living quarters.

But, all that being said, I went ahead and ordered one of her enclosures and I already have a tiny one coming to me in the mail. I ordered an adult one from Jamie. My pink toe is still a juvenile. I'm estimating about 2.5-3 inches. Definitely no more than three inches. In fact, I'm confident it's not even three inches. I've only had it for two weeks, so I don't want to stress it out at all to get an accurate measurement, and it'll be going in my Nano Exo Terra I have coming in the mail. I don't like the screen top, but it was super cheap for an immediate fix, so I went with it. Anyway, in the future, I'll look into getting a small electric hand saw for when I decide I want more tarantulas. After I've grown used to and comfortable with having just one.

Thanks for your time!

I ordered from this site 2 yrs ago prices were more affordable, But very good service. More known a dealer gets prices shoot up, hey better than those con artist insurance company's. Ts are cooler than gambling on a accident.

I always order sphagnum moss and acrylic water bowls from them, along with different sizes of tongs which are of high quality. Never bought a T from them but it's obvious they care very much about the hobby.

I haven't read the other replies. HOWEVER: I have bought from Jamie's a few times, never a problem.

Considering Jamie sells a few different enclosures, and you NEGLECTED to leave out that VERY critical piece of information. I can't help you. I have seen all her designs however.

Faxing is more secure than ordering on-line. If you fax, you know exactly the entity to blame regarding charges on your card. But when you order online, the security in the USA is a joke, and ANYONE can tap into your network, have fun!
