I really would like a herp of some sort. I know I probably won't get one for a while but what would be an awesome herp to keep that wouldn't be too expensive to start up? Cresties are awesome and I have thought of getting one but I am weird and would prefer a herp that can eat insects. I love snakes BUT I don't want to feed live feeders and I can't feed frozen here, so that's out of the question. I already tried getting a ball python and had to rule that out. I had a beardie and I LOVED it! However, they are really expensive to start up and get everything set up.

Any suggestions? I am open to anything, really.
Also, can you give me a price estimate on start up costs if you can?

Well, technically cresties eat insects, although they also like some of the sweet stuff in their diet...
Seems like leopard geckos fit your description. Inexpensive, easy to care for, docile, and interesting looking. No special UV bulbs or anything. Just a heater, bugs, simple substrate, a hide, a water dish, and a 10 gal tank to fit a pair. (Two females or a male and a female- never put two males together or they will fight to the death) Also, they are super easy to breed!
The only other thing I should mention is they are nocturnal so they'll be napping in daylight. All well.

I have to encourage you to go for a crestie (or two) despite the fact that their main diet isn't insects (you can offer occasional crickets, although I haven't with mine yet). We've had leopards and cresties (and a corn snake), and I totally prefer the cresties. They're freakin' cute, very easy to handle (my leopards were more skittish), and arboreal, which I love. We got ours at 6-8 weeks old and they were so tiny they could literally perch on your fingertip...watching them jump from hand to hand is adorable.

As far as cost, they've got to be one of the cheapest herps to keep. No special heating requirements, I'm still working on the first bag of food I bought months ago, and babies can be kept in a smallish, inexpensive tank.

Seriously, get a crestie! They rock. :)

So leopard gecko or crestie huh ? hmmm, I do love cresties and I do love leo's. I will have to research them both, though I have researched cresties before.

Thanks!

I would go with cresties, just because we don't have them in my country. You guys are so lucky that they're readily available :p
