i have bought a Kenyan sand boa.

and a crested gecko.

i went to the east coast super expo in oaks pa today, and was happy to find the snake pit and the gecko haven, (both of whom i highly recommend :D) had these species at a unbelievable price.

($25 for the boa, $45 for the crestie, which is a dalmatian i believe. )

so i finally own two more of the animals ive always wanted to raise. hopefully they'll be good breeders.

any tips? :D i think i got everything down correctly for caging and all, but anything that i might wanna know? the boa is female and the crestie is unknown, but i was told it looks more male then female right now

well, mines an adult female, and i was hoping to get a male (very few sand boas were being sold though) but im getting a male in the future. perhaps i can send one your way when that happens? ;)

and i was stunned at how much i payed. i never thought id pay less then 100 dollars for a crested gecko

That's sweet do you have any bearded dragons?
i used to. i was a breeder in 2005-2008, but i stopped because of the economy and some personal issues. now im just building up a collection of geckos to breed (i bred more leopard geckos, golden geckos, day geckos, etc then anything else) and im getting a few snakes to teach my girlfriend how to breed animals (she wants to keep snakes and breed them as a hobby)

Wow

Wow a girl my mom hates snakes. Before I got into tarantulas I had a large female Boa That I purchased from my science teacher. But my mom hates T's also, I used to be afraid of spiders but lost fear in them after a while.

and awsome your the same way as me then. i got into tarantulas, even though i feared them. but once i got used to them i started to enjoy keeping them.

what kind of boa? ive worked with rainbow, red tailed (owned a full grown one when i was 9. not a good idea at that age), sand boa, and a few others.

Anery is short for anerythristic, meaning lacking red pigment. They are the gray snakes, like this one: http://www.santafejewels.com/images/DSC_1007.JPG
Your's looks normal to me, though I don't know much about sand boas.

ah ok. i was never sure what a "normal" sand boa looked like, because i dont look for morphs on my first snake or pair of snakes, and ive always seen different colors with no labels.

I find the herp hobby can be bad for that, not labelling things, just assuming that you will know. Fine for those who know morphs but those who don't are left in the dark. At the last expo we went to there were so many leopard and crested gecko morphs I had no idea what I was looking at.

i noticed that too at the expo. very few geckos were labeled with what they were (except a few tables), and i ended up asking what each one was.

i dont mind buying a "extra" pet or two, but i wanna know its age who raised it and what morph/morphs it has in it. not just its $XXXXX.00 price tag and its size.

although i did notice a drop in the prices of the pac man frogs and some tarantulas. there was a guy selling choco golden knees for $5 bucks and g rosea for $3 (they were pretty big slings too) the tarantula dealers knew what they were talking bout to. :D i dont know what it was about the expo i went to (it was supposed to be a split off from a show i normally go to in hamburg pa) but the people werent as friendly. geckohaven, and thesnakepit were pretty much the only dealers i enjoyed talking to :)

Either a dumerils or a constrictor, he said it was a constrictor, he is a science teacher he is probably right. He also gave me a male red ear slider to breed with my female.

A Dumerils is a constrictor.;)

Do you mean it was either a Dumerils or a BCI or BCC? Like a red tail boa?

Nice Kenyan, I'm waiting on my first right now. I purchased a young male Anery, I can't wait to actually get him here. I would like to get a female Nuclear to go with him in the future.

Yours is a normal, but she does have an interesting pattern, lots of black.

Yeah

I've had that boa since middle school, I lost my fear of spiders by going to water world. Can you believe that? There was a big slide I was always afraid of, my 8 year old cousin went down it. I said if he can do it then I can to. So I did it, now its my favorite ride there. I said to myself if I can overcome that fear, I'm ready for my first T. I now have 2, a five year old G. rosea, and a 6 or 7 month old A. versicolor. I will soon be taking in a A. avicularia from petco because I know they wont take of it. I mean for Pete's sake the humidity is at 40% It's as dry as a desert or is it dessert? So I hope he hangs in there.

It is a Poecilotheria metallica or Gooty Saphire Ornamental.
