My C. shioedtei sealed herself in her hide about a month ago, I figured premolt right away and left her be, checking on her from time to time with my flashlight. Well last week right after it looked like she might be molting, my flashlight died! So I couldn't see her! and these past few days I've been extreamly worried since I could see her feet and they never moved!
Today I finally got a new flashlight and the first thing I did was check on her. This was almost going to be a very sad thread, through the webbing it appeared to be a death curl, so in a panic i removed the webbing from the entrance of her hide and lo and behold, it was just the molt, I could see her alive and well sitting towards the bottom of the hide with the molt clutched under her front legs.
I'm still a little worried she might be stuck in the molt simply because I can't see all of her, but I kind of doubt it, especally since she's turned around from the position she was in when I last saw her, when I think she was molting. She currently won't let me have the molt. It's a good thing I don't need it for sexing. She's molted into her adult colors and her legs are sleek black and fiiiinne.
Now before you say anything, I know I shouldn't have been in such a rush to remove the webbing, but I was truely worried. She the pride and joy of my collection. (although, I'll likely say that about all of my tarantulas at some point.
