Im fairly new at owning isopods, i have just recently gotten my first 4 months ago. I got 6 Armidillidium Granulatum, and 6 Armidillidium Maculatum. They seemed to be thriving, they are eating carrots, cucumber, zucchini, fish flakes, and dried bsf. The Granulatums had a group of babies, around 2 months ago, i got around 20-30 babies. They are big enough to see often, but recently, i never see any pods. I lift up their cork bark, or their deer bone, and i never see any isopods. I picked up a few leaves, and found mabye 1 or 2, should i be worried if i never see them? Or are they just burying themselves? I wanna make sure they are ok. They get along well, and I have a 10 gallon tank. I do see that when i feed them fish flakes, the next morning they are gone, so i think im just overreacting. Thanks!

I had a failed colony, I ended up setting the last few free because they were wc. Baby’s hide everywhere when Feeding they should come out.

they are probably burrowed mine like to dig down
Thankyou! I see them sometimes but i get worried. I mean, i have a store near me that sells isopods, if my colony fails, i can just get more eventually.

do more research on their care and you wont need to worry about if they croak and needing to buy more then

My isopods generally hide until I spray down their enclosures (usually just a mist every night, more every few days). Then there's a flurry of activity, babies and adults all trying to find water to drink and food to eat. If you have wood pieces in there, especially soft ones like cork, they will usually choose to hide there than other spots. Just lift to take a peek. As long as the substrate isn't totally dry they should be fine.
