My wife and kids surprised me with 1.2 trio of Heterometrus silenus (my first scorpion additions to my invertebrate collection) from the local specialty shop, and I’d like an opinion or two on whether they are considered mature adults since I would like to try to pair them if they’re ready.
All three are the same size.
The cork bark is 5.5 inches in length, so with a fully outstretched tail that would make them about 4.5 inches long (excluding the pincers).
I have read that this species gets bigger, but if you notice in the photo, the male has the pronounced bump on the bottom part of his pincers, which I have read only appears in mature animals.
This has me a bit confused since they aren’t as big as I had imagined adults would be.
As always, thanks for taking the time to reply!
