Nothing about that feels really right. It would seem that there would be severe neurological damage to the spinal chord and would affect brain and muscular function. Even if it were ok, the host dog would probably reject the transplant in days.

About as logical as trying to graft the head of a human onto another person.

Zaney video though. Kinda creepy.

That's pretty incredible. This kind of thing fascinates me so much! Imagine how much we could learn from these kind of experiments. And to think that was done long ago. I'm impressed.

That book has now been added to my to read list!

Yeah, I was wondering that too? Are dogs spinal cords less complex than a humans? How did that they have that kind medical technology back then to do something like this?

it doesn't surprise me that its real, but i also don't believe that the dog would have survived for very long like that. Reading the wikipedia article posted by Mushroom Spore, it looks like this guy's experiments were helpful to medicine, with heart and lung transplants and all. I didn't watch the video completely, it got boring.

When I first saw this video today I didn't have audio and to hear it is in different language was disheartening, but lo and behold it's in Russian! Guess who's a Russian born Russian bred girl? Oh yes, me.

I understand it but don't ask me to translate. I'm terrible at that.

That's my day made.

Actually now that I watched it I find a lot is cut with no consideration for the sentances. Whoever cut it didn't speak a word of Russian and it's clipped good bits of documentary out.

Wow! I'll have to check out the vid later, my comp is doing too many things right now. I don't think the added head would need a spinal cord, mostly just blood supply from the other dogs body, seems to me anyway.

yeah that video was, neat, freaky, and creepy all in one! lol

Its pretty crazy too when you think about it, that all the medical knowledge we currently have today was tested on someone or something. Its sad in a way that a lot of animals have suffered for our benefit, but with out them a lot of people with various aliments wouldn't be around today.
