So one of our pedes is pulling another Spider-pede moment on us and is currently Scaleing the glass wall of his tank....Is this normal pede-behavour right after a molt?

I'm including pictures...and he's still climbing higher.

As I keep my millipedes in a plastic shoebox, I rarely see them climb. Perhaps if you add more substrate or branches to climb on, you millipedes will climb those instead of the glass. Usually, millipedes cannot climb glass as they lack specialized sticky pads on their feet and instead have a sharp claw, so perhaps wiping the glass of particles will disallow them to climb further.

If this does not work, many roach keepers use Vaseline or a similar insect-proofing jelly that is too slick for them to climb. It can be spread in a line along where you do not want millipedes, and their feet will not be able to grip. (Not actually sure if it works for millipedes)

I do not believe this behavior is related to molting.

One of my Spirostreptidae sp. 6 is climbing too. They have a small root in there enclosure, but it prefers to walk on the walls. I have them in plastic containers, so there it is no problem to climb the walls. There are about 10 cm free space from the surface to the lid, and it is completely on the walls, walking around the enclosure.
Ophistreptus guineensis only stand upright, with their rear on the ground. Mardionus and Tonkinbolus never tried to climb.

Nevermind I figured it out. I'm about 95% sure the little guy his sibling just finished molting and are extremely hungry and thirsty. I didn't realise it at first bu t as I watched he was nomming the little water droplets on the glass lol. So I got a piece of lettuce shaped like a bowl and sprayed a bunch of water in it and sat him on that and he went to town. Seems happy now finished up and burrowed right back into the dirt.

I know so many people say not to include a water dish in a millipede set up - but I think they always act thirsty when I spray the glass. I try to spray more often, but less water each time so there are water droplets on the sides most of the time. I bought some chair leg casters and I think I will try to put some natural stones in it with water and see what happens. I'm sure they are already fine, but I like to play. :jimlad:
