Is this new lid dangerous?

Hello! Just rehousing some spiders. One of my H. Gigas juveniles (2.5" - 3") will go into this big tub, but I noticed the plastic lid might be problematic... a leg could probably fit through those holes. Could I attach some fine cloth to the bottom of the lid? Or just leave it? Thank you.

Side question: another spider just molted 2 days ago, but there's some mold developing in its enclosure... it was a bit jumpy when I tried to remove the mold, so it might be easier to actually transfer it to a new terrarium too. Or should I wait longer since it has recently molted? (L. P. juvenile, 2")

Wait!

Its only a problem if the T can hang from it above the sub generally
Ok, I might try to aerate the terrarium more while I wait for it to finish "hardening".

I guess it could hang upside down... I know about not leaving too much height above the surface level though. Maybe I can attach a cloth inside.

Hanging upside down is a non issue, it’s the height.

Possibility of getting too High could be mitigated by ground rising up. :) add more dirt.

I'd worry about tarsal claws getting caught in cloth and think a tarantula would have better luck extricating itself from the larger holes than from a cloth. Kritter Keepers have similar tops, and many tarantula keepers love them for their terrestrials and fossorials.

I would wait until it's a minimum of 2.5 inches dls and also that the abdomen cannot fit through the side vent slits, not all genus and species of T's have the same body mass.

I use some Kritter Keepers and for my NW terrestrials 2 inches is usually fine in a small KK.

You also need to block off the top air vents and it wouldn't hurt to block off two of the side air vents. This helps to keep moisture in but also provide good cross ventilation.

Cool, good to know thanks! I was wondering if it would be too much ventilation. I'll block the top off for now with somemething.

No not at all I've been using them for years like that. Once my tarantulas hit around 3 inches I only block off the two short sides so they have more ventilation from the longer sides.
