I found this vid clip while surfing today. I know chameleons can change colors but this quick?!! Is this just clever editing or real? I don't own a single one so I'm clueless!

Haha! Definitely cool but sorry to say not so real. I've never seen anything other than shades of green and brown, sometimes blue on a veiled. At the beginning of the video with the pattern, that is real.

The panthers are the ones with all the color.

I don't know jack about chameleons. I just keep T's & scorps. I thought the purple and the fire engine red was pretty much a stretch but just had to ask.

i think they can change in 10 seconds to a different color,and that was way to fast

Did you notice how the color started from where the chameleon touched the glasses and then evenly spread out across his body at a constant rate til it reached the tip of his tail? Cool video trick but with the right software, it takes about 5 minutes to produce.

yeah unfortunately hollywood and lack of knowledge has lead people to believe that these guys can change any color they want. they are not able to change color like that at all. they change color mostly on reactions to external stimulus...kinda like a mood ring if u will...if the chameleon is upset becuz something is to close to it, it will exhibit different colors than if its looking for a mate, or if its getting a nice tasty treat. and i know that the deremensis chameleon doesnt really change color much but gets spots and lines to express it self. those guys are quick to react tho, ive seen one go from perfectly fine to black and yellow spots all over in less than 6 seconds, becuz some jerk thought it would be cool to tap on the glass right in front of it.

it was a cool video tho, and outside of the color changing that is how a chameleon acts...they kinda just sway about constantly scanning all over.
