It could be a Sericopelma, I want to say B.vagans but something looks a bit "off".

When I first saw video I thought it was a B.vagans. This video is what actually made buy a B.vagans, and it was my first T.

I know they boarder each other, but since the video was taken in Guatemala, B. vagans is a mexican tarantula while S. rubronitens is native to central america, my guess would be S. rubronitens, a mature male at that. But they look very similar, I doubt anyone would beable to positively ID it just from the video.

Looks like B.vagans to me. Some of the replies those people posted make me realize there are some real idiots in this world.

i didnt see a ring arround the carapace that should indicate B. vagans but then again the video doesnt capture any detail on the T other than black and red so i think its kind of impossble to be sure as to what it is.
Also i think it loogs a bit leggier than b. vagans

Brachypelma vagans is found in Guatemala as well. So is B. sabulosum, another simular black red rumped spider. Although I have never heard of Sericopelma rubronitens coming from Guatemala I'm not douting it. But since Guatemala is a neighboring country to Mexico, I would suspect Brachypelma.

About 50 seconds into the video you can see tibial spurs indicating a mature male. Mature males of the spider imported as Sericopelma sp. "rubronitens" that I have seen have no obvious hooks. Brachypelma's do...

I Love youtube but I agree ID'ing a spider from it is impossible. Who knows if that video was evan filmed in Guatemala. All my assumptions are based on hobby material , so that should be taken into consideration as well....

Later, Tom

Pet trade mature male Sericopelma sp. "rubronitens"

the site (El Ceibal) is not too far from Chichen Itza (type site of B. sabulosum.) the spider in the video is either B. sabulosum or B. vagans (as found in Belize)

It would really be neat if someone were to post a way for us to distinguish B vagans, B sabulosum, and Sericopelma rubronitens. It seems like a lot of these threads have been popping up lately and I don't really know what to tell people.

Anyone one got a dichotomous key so they could help us out? Not that it would help us identify the spider in the video.
